Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has raved about James Milner on the club’s official website for his performance against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
Milner started at right-back for Liverpool against Manchester City due to injury issues over Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The former Leeds United and Newcastle United star was superb in his role and coped well with City star Phil Foden.
Liverpool manager Klopp has said that the 36-year-old was brilliant against City, and that the Englishman must have shocked a number of observers.

Klopp said about Milner: “I’d like to mention – and it’s fine, Joey deserves all the praise – but I am pretty sure before the game a lot of people thought, ‘Oh, James Milner against Phil Foden.’ The way James Milner played was absolutely unbelievable.”
Excellent performance
In our view, James Milner was brilliant for Liverpool against Manchester City in the Premier League game and was one of the best players on the pitch at Anfield on Sunday.
The former City star did his job perfectly, and it was remarkably to see that the Englishman kept up with the pace of the game despite his age.
Milner may not have been exactly great going on the attack, but defensively he was solid and kept the City attackers at bay.
The Englishman can still do a job despite his age, and he showed that against defending Premier League champions City.
