Charles Watts has confirmed on his Youtube channel that Arsenal are interested in signing Nabil Fekir from Real Betis this summer.
Fekir has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time now, and the number 10 remains a player of interest to them.
The 28-year-old apparently is being lined up as a potential option, if Arsenal fail to bring in Martin Odegaard on a permanent deal from Real Madrid.
“They’re true, as far as I’m aware, speaking to a couple of people that I absolutely trust, they are absolutely true,” he said, of the links with the attacker, who was once valued at £40 million (France Football).
“Arsenal are looking at him.
“He’s not the priority as far as I’m aware Odegaard is, but Arsenal have to have back up options and one of them is Nabil Fekir, who they have been watching for a while.
“He’s got two years on his contract and has just changed agents.
“It’s an option, I’m not saying Arsenal are going to do it, but it’s an option.”
Watts actually wrote on Goal.com that Fekir’s asking price has fallen considerably this summer.
Real Betis’ need for money means that they would now be wiling to sell Fekir, who Robert Pires once described as a ‘great player’ (Mirror), for £26 million.
That should put him into Arsenal’s price-range and make him a cheaper option than Odegaard.
However, the Norwegian’s impact at the Emirates Stadium has been so vast, that if he now doesn’t sign on a long-term deal it is sure to be a disappointment for many around the North London club.
