Newcastle United’s prospective new owners have designs on improving communications between the club and its fanbase, according to The Chronicle.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund are still waiting for the Premier League to greenlight their £300 million takeover of the Magpies.
Much of the delay stems from allegations of broadcast piracy and the Premier League received a new piece of evidence in that investigation last week.
But Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is reportedly confident that a deal will still materialise in spite of the hold up.
Under Ashley, there’s been a huge disconnect between the club and its fans for years.
But according to The Chronicle journalist Mark Douglas, the new regime will rectify this ‘immediately’.
He wrote during a Q & A this afternoon, when asked how the relationship between club and its support will change: “It will be absolutely transformed.
“I’m aware of plans to start talking to fans almost immediately with a mission statement that will set out aims and objectives.”
This is quite an exciting prospect.
Newcastle, like any club, would be nothing without its fans and it’s a shame that Ashley didn’t seem to respect the fanbase throughout his 13-year reign as United owner.
