Tim Sherwood was part of the Sky Sports Soccer Saturday panel earlier today, where he commented on Antonio Conte at Tottenham.

Interestingly, the 53-year-old believes Daniel Levy will be “absolutely fuming” with the Italian for his recent antics.

What’s the story?

Well, Sherwood also believes that, if any other manager did what Conte did, he would’ve been sacked.

As quoted by Football Daily, the former Spurs boss said: “If anyone else done that, they would have got sacked. Daniel Levy would be looking at that interview and he would’ve been absolutely fuming.”

It’s hard to disagree with Sherwood.

Conte effectively challenged Levy to review his position as manager, and take a deep look into what’s going wrong at Tottenham.

It was an emotional outburst, and if the £250,000-a-week man didn’t have the reputation of an elite manager, there may well have been greater consequences for him.

As Sherwood states, the fact Levy has already sacked two managers in 2021 meant Conte held most of the power in this situation, as it wouldn’t be a good look to dismiss a third boss in less than a year.

Daniel Levy must change for Antonio Conte at Tottenham

As Conte said in his emotional interview, things never seem to change at Tottenham, no matter who the manager is.

We’re not blaming him entirely, although the common denominator is Levy, as well as those on the Tottenham board.

In our view, Levy needs to change his approach if he and Conte are going to work together in N17.

The Italian only arrived in November, and already, cracks are starting to appear in his relationship with the Spurs supremo.

That doesn’t bode well for the future, and with Conte more than happy to walk away from the job – like he did at Inter Milan – Levy must change if Tottenham are to be successful.
