Leeds United manager Sam Allardyce has said that much like Pep Guardiola, he too could challenge for a treble with this Manchester City side currently.

During his first press conference, the veteran coach even said that he is as knowledgeable about the game as the likes of Guardiola, Klopp and Arteta.

Now, it seems like Sam Allardyce fully backs himself to challenge for the treble if he was the manager of Manchester City.

Sam Allardyce believes he could challenge for the treble as Manchester City manager

It seems as if Allardyce had always intended to return to management by instantly stealing the headlines even before he got to work.

The Englishman has a tall task on his hands, with four games left to play to save Leeds from relegation against teams like City, Newcastle, West Ham and Tottenham.

Ahead of his side’s upcoming clash against Manchester City, Sam Allardyce has openly claimed that he could challenge for the treble if he was in charge of his opponents.

“Absolutely because the players make you a really good manager and really good coach, and then your job is to be able to communicate with those players, of course”, Allardyce said via Football Daily.

“We all have our own pressures but to deal with highly quality players that they have is a dream come true.”

HITC View: As entertaining as Allardyce is, this is far from the truth

Taking the Premier League champions as an example, it is no coincidence that even two top coaches like Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini could not build legacies at the club.

Premier League winners? Yes. But could they sustain their dominance like Pep Guardiola has? Far from it.

While it is nice to see Sam Allardyce back himself the way he has, for Manchester City or any side to be in the hunt for a treble alone is an incredible achievement on its own.

Allardyce has had an impressive career but his claim is a stretch to put it modestly, as it undermines the brilliance of Guardiola or any manager that manages a top side.
