Speaking on Everton’s official YouTube channel, Seamus Coleman has named Ben Godfrey as the fastest player in the Everton squad.
Coleman was taking part in a game where he was asked to name his quickest teammate, and he was seemingly quite sure that Godfrey was the fastest of the bunch.
What’s been said?
The Toffees skipper was asked to name the fastest player in the team.
“I would say Ben Godfrey, it’s probably close between Ben and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to be honest, but Ben is absolutely rapid. I don’t know if they would have a race, but it’s close between those two. Dominic is really quick too, but I’d go with Ben,” Coleman said.

Deceptively rapid
Ben Godfrey is one of the fastest players in the Premier League, but he doesn’t quite get spoke about in those circles.
To be fair, it’s often hard to judge how quick centre-backs are. They rarely made darting runs and it’s not often you see them sprinting long distances.
We all know how fast Calvert-Lewin is, so for Coleman to say that Godfrey is even quicker than the England striker he must be jet-heeled.
Godfrey’s pace is certainly an important attribute, and after the injury to Coleman on international duty, he may be utilised at right-back in the coming weeks.
