Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has raved about attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard in The Athletic and has suggested that the Norway international could become the Gunners’ captain.
Arteta has outlined how impressed he has been by Odegaard’s attitude, and has suggested that the Arsenal star could be his team’s captain for next season.

The Arsenal boss told The Athletic about Odegaard: “One of them is that he thinks about the team before himself.
“He had a period at the start where he wasn’t playing, he was the first in training, the last to leave, asking the right questions – why he wasn’t playing, what he had to do – he was always listening, he was always helping his teammates.
“His attitude was absolutely phenomenal. That made me think that this guy is putting the team in front of himself and the captain has to do that always.”
Big player for the Gunners
In our view, Martin Odegaard is one of the best players at Arsenal and is a key figure in the team.
The 23-year-old is a very creative player who provides assists and links up play well.
Odegaard has scored eight goals and created seven big chances in 50 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The Arsenal no. 8 made 32 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League last season.
The former Real Madrid player scored seven goals and gave four assists in those matches.
Odegaard is only 23 now, but he is already the captain of the Norway national football team.
The attacking midfielder is a very mature player, and we think that he would make a brilliant captain for Arsenal.
Arsenal will be aiming to finish in the Premier League top four next season and will also play in the UEFA Europa League.
