Gary Lineker has lavished praise on the ‘absolutely outstanding’ Harvey Elliott for his latest Liverpool performance.
Despite being only 19, Elliott was arguably the Reds’ best player in their visit of Newcastle United to Anfield tonight.
Alexander Isak fired Newcastle into a 1-0 lead at half time but the former Fulham academy graduate took responsibility on a night where other Liverpool playesr shirked it and helped Jurgen Klopp’s side to an equaliser.
Roberto Firmino equalised for the Reds on 61 minutes and the teenage sensation – who joined the Anfield outfit in 2019 – played a part in it.
Here’s what Lineker tweeted about the player:

Klopp, whose side wound up winning 2-1, is in the market to sign another midfielder and the German manager has publicly acknowledged this on a number of occasions.
However, going by Elliott’s growing confidence, the Liverpool manager might be tempted to stick with what he has.
Yes, supporters of the Merseyside club would absolutely love a deadline day signing, but it’s growing very unlikely and would it be such a bad thing if they didn’t get one?
In theory, it would help Elliott remain in the first XI for now and this isn’t a player whose development you want to block in any way.
As Lineker said, he is such a genuinely exciting talent, typified by his goal and performance in the 9-0 victory over Bournemouth last weekend.
