Rangers youngster Ross McCrorie starred against Partick Thistle on Tuesday night.

Former Rangers manager Ally McCoist has been quoted by The Scottish Sun as saying that he thought Ross McCrorie was ‘absolutely outstanding’ against Partick Thistle on Tuesday night.
The Gers made another trip to Firhill Stadium on Tuesday night, just days after a 2-2 league draw with neighbours Partick Thistle, but they came out on top this time in the Scottish League Cup.
Pedro Caixinha’s men took the lead through Carlos Pena’s header from a Daniel Candeias corner, only for Kris Doolan to notch an injury-time equaliser for the hosts, sending the game to extra time.

In extra time, Candeias struck to put Rangers back in front, and Eduardo Herrera’s back heel sealed a 3-1 victory, and a passage into the semi-finals of the competition.
Caixinha will be delighted to have claimed a win ahead of Saturday’s Old Firm derby with Celtic, and one player who certainly impressed was defender Ross McCrorie.
McCrorie, 19, has come up through the ranks with Rangers, and having come on as a substitute against Partick Thistle, the teenager turned in a superb performance, earning praise from manager Caixinha after the game.

Now, pundit and former Rangers manager Ally McCoist has been quoted by The Scottish Sun that he felt McCrorie was ‘absolutely outstanding’ against Partick Thistle, tipping him for a great future – even if the Old Firm derby may be too much right now.
McCoist also hailed deadline day signing Declan John, labelling the left back ‘the best player on the pitch’ in the first half, though a knock means the Cardiff loanee could miss Saturday’s game with Celtic.
“He [McCrorie] was absolutely outstanding at centre-back for the period he was on,” said McCoist. “Look, the Old Firm game is a different ball game, but he’s got a great future.”
“For the first 45 minutes Declan John was the best player on the pitch,” he added.
