James Maddison has stated that Liverpool’s Mo Salah is his best player of 2021 and someone who produces ‘absolutely outrageous’ numbers, as he told Amazon Prime Sport.

The Leicester City playmaker faced one of the world’s best players this week when his side beat Liverpool 1-0 at the King Power.

The Foxes did a pretty good job in nullifying his threat and stopping him from scoring, including Kasper Schmeichel saving his penalty.

It was a rare off day for Liverpool and the speed king on their right flank, who has failed to score in back-to-back matches now.

But that hasn’t been the case over the calendar year for Salah, who this season alone, has 15 goals from 19 matches.

Nonetheless, this is what Maddison had to say about the Liverpool player when asked who has been the best player of 2021.

“I think Mohamed Salah,” said Maddison. “Top player. His numbers are absolutely outrageous.

“Just goals and assists. It’s constant. Relentless is the word I would use, so I would probably say, Salah.”

Salah has produced a number of world-class moments for his Liverpool side this season and the same will be needed this Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side face-off against Chelsea in the Premier League and both teams know that a defeat may well end their title hopes.

Manchester City are eight points clear at the top and they have probably watched with glee as their rivals have dropped points this week.

But Salah will want to add to his 15 goal tally and bring the magic he showcased when he scored an outrageous solo goal against Manchester City earlier on in the campaign.
