Micah Richards has strongly defended Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold on Sky Sports.
The former Manchester City right-back believes that the Liverpool star is still a very good player despite him not being at his best this season.
The Sky Sports pundit has pointed out that the 22-year-old has won the Premier League and the Champions League over the past two seasons.
Alexander-Arnold was left out of the recent England squad, a decision that was criticised by former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
Richards said about Alexander-Arnold on Sky Sports: “I believe he is still one of the best full-backs in Europe. I know a lot of people will say, ‘Well, he has not played well’, but look at his last three seasons. Champions League, he has had a Champions League final and he has won a Premier League. And now because he has had a bad six months, he has become a bad player overnight, and it’s absolutely nonsense.”

Staying positive
Alexander-Arnold is one of the best right-backs in the world, and a few disappointing months does not change that.
True, the England international needs to do better, improve his game, and become defensively more solid, but one should not forget that he is only 22 years of age.
What the youngster needs right now is confidence from his manager and teammates, and the right-back himself should work harder to get back to his best.
Alexander-Arnold provided a brilliant assist for Liverpool in their win against Arsenal and had a very good game overall on Saturday evening.
Liverpool are aiming to finish in the Premier League top four and win the Champions League this season.
