Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Liverpool should go in for former attacker Raheem Sterling.
Speaking on his Vibe with Five YouTube show, the six-time Premier League champion name-dropped Liverpool as a potential destination for Sterling. The winger has been in poor form for Manchester City this season.
The England international started for Pep Guardiola’s side over the weekend against Southampton. However, City had just one shot on target as the game finished 0-0.
Indeed, rumours are swirling that Sterling could depart the Manchester giants, and Ferdinand believes that Liverpool could be a landing spot for the attacker six years after he left in a £49m deal as per BBC Sport.
The BT Sport pundit said: “This guy was the go-to guy when they needed a goal for so many years. All of a sudden, he’s in the wilderness. I’m just baffled by it; I don’t understand it.
Ferdinand added: “If I’m Liverpool, I’m buying Sterling tomorrow.” Indeed, a return to Merseyside would be extremely unlikely for the City star even if he was to depart.

As you would expect on social media, Liverpool fans made it clear that they didn’t want Sterling back at Anfield.
Here’s what some supporters had to say on Twitter about Ferdinand’s comments on Sterling…
