Darren Bent has told the Sunday Session on TalkSport (11/10/20 at 3:40 pm) that he “really likes” what West Ham are doing in the transfer market.

The former Premier League hitman was reacting to the rumours the Hammers could sign Said Benrahma and Josh King before Friday’s deadline.

The London Evening Standard has claimed West Ham want to sign both Benrahma and King, with the Premier League club seemingly closing in on the Brentford man.

Benrahma is yet to play in the Premier League, while King has played there with Bournemouth – and Bent said he is surprised more clubs aren’t gunning for the Norway international.

“Isn’t that breaking the rules?” Bent questioned on TalkSport when being told King has reportedly held personal talks with West Ham before a deal has been struck between Bournemouth.

On West Ham possibly signing Benrahma and King, he said: “Absolutely love it. I like what West Ham are doing. People wrote them off after their performances earlier on this season. But 4-0 against Wolves and 3-0 against Leicester. Playing really well.

“If you add Benrahma and Josh King to the mix then I really like what they are doing down there at West Ham. It’s surprising more clubs aren’t in for King.”

A lot has to happen yet for West Ham to sign the attacking duo.

David Moyes needs defensive players more than attacking players, so it begs the question as to why another centre-back hasn’t yet arrived.

Critics of the West Ham board will say the club should have completed their transfer business weeks ago.
