Gary Neville says that Tottenham’s Hotspur defence looked shattered in the first 20 minutes of their game against Aston Villa, as per his comments live on Sky Sports.

Tottenham were put on the back foot early on by Villa, with Reguilon in particular targeted.

The Spaniard struggled to get to grips with Bertrand Traore early on, but he was not the only Tottenham player who seemed to take a while to get up to speed in the game.

And Neville felt that all of Tottenham’s defence looked very fatigued early on.

“I’m not sure not Reguilon really is comfortable with it [Traore running in behind],” Neville said. “He looks leggy. You look at the runs in behind him and he needed Moura to help him out. The left-back for Spurs is struggling in those attacks.

“It’s really poor from Spurs. The back four look absolutely knackered. You just look at the them and they are almost watching what’s going on around them.”

Tottenham’s defence had no excuse for looking tired, as Sanchez was the only player who started against Villa and Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday.

Thankfully for Spurs they rather weathered the storm, and came out unscathed.

Mourinho’s men scored against the run of play through Carlos Vinicius and that goal seemed to settle them.

Tottenham then grew into the match and by the time the full-time whistle went they were well worth of the three points.
