‘Absolutely incredible’: £34m Liverpool star stuns Jermaine Beckford

Jermaine Beckford has lauded Mohamed Salah on the BBC’s Final Score (4/12, 14:48) for his record of Premier League games played since the winger joined Liverpool from Roma.

Jurgen Klopp deemed Salah one of his prime targets for the summer 2017 window after a sublime Serie A season. He offered the Giallorossi 15 goals and 13 assists over 31 games.

Liverpool paid the Stadio Olimpico side £34m for the Egyptian, with Klopp describing Salah at the time as having ‘the perfect mix of experience and potential’ as he built up his team.

Salah has since played 162 Premier League games for Liverpool over the past five seasons after starting at Wolves on Saturday. The Molineux affair also represented his 153rd start.

The 29-year-old has additionally only sat out three games as an unused substitute and has played the full 90-minutes on 115 occasions and counting.

Salah’s ability to play a near-constant role in Klopp’s Liverpool plans over four seasons and 15 games stuns Beckford.

“It is incredible that Mo Salah has only missed seven Premier League games since joining Liverpool,” Beckford said. “Absolutely incredible stats.

“When you take into account how many games he plays, full games, he must look after himself so well.”

Klopp set for new Salah experience at Liverpool in January

Salah is yet to miss back-to-back Premier League games as a Liverpool player since joining Klopp at Anfield in 2017. So, the German coach will experience a new situation in January when the £200k-a-week winger departs Merseyside for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Klopp will have a challenge on his hands to replace what the 73-cap Egypt forward offers. Salah has scored at least 19 goals in each of his complete league seasons at Anfield so far.

He has also already found the back of the net 13 times this term and laid on nine assists. The attacker registered his most goals (32) and assists (14) in a single season in 2017/18.
