There are plenty of Tottenham Hotspur fans who are becoming worried by Newcastle United potentially appointing Paulo Fonseca.
A cause for concern?
The Daily Mail report that Fonseca is one of the favourites to land the Newcastle job following Steve Bruce’s departure.
His move to Tyneside could come just months after it looked as if he was set to get the Tottenham job.
Fonseca had met with the Spurs hierarchy and it appeared he was in line to take over from Jose Mourinho.
However, Tottenham pulled out of the deal at the last minute and ultimately went for Nuno instead.
Nuno’s time at Tottenham so far has already been rather up and down, with Spurs currently sitting just outside the top four.
And there are concerns that Fonseca may be able to show Tottenham exactly what they are missing, if he does get the job at St. James’ Park.
Big gap to close
If Fonseca was to take over from Newcastle it may be at least another year before he could realistically challenge Tottenham though.
Spurs are already well clear of Newcastle in the Premier League table, and recently showed the superiority of their squad in comparison to the Magpies.
Tottenham ran out 3-2 winners on Tyneside last weekend, in a game where they looked a cut above their opponents.
Fonseca’s first job at Newcastle would be to take the team away from the relegation zone, as they currently sit in 19th place in the Premier League table.
