Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has been discussing Oliver Skipp’s performances in pre-season after he picked up an injury.
Sadly, the English midfielder will miss the beginning of the season, but there’s reason to believe he’s going to kick on upon his return.
Indeed, according to Gold, Skipp has been really impressing Spurs’ coaching staff in recent weeks. Apparently, the analysts at Spurs have been labelling him as one of the two fittest players in the entire squad.
What’s been said?
Gold shared what he knows about Skipp.
“I’m told that the Spurs coaching staff had labelled him as the top two fittest in the squad, he was absolutely flying and everyone was delighted with him,” Gold said.
“Essentially what has to happen now is that they need to let the bone settle down, Spurs are seeing this as a minor injury, this isn’t like before, this isn’t the pelvic injury, he will be back before the end of the month.”

Big season ahead
It sounds as though Skipp could be in line for a huge season at Spurs.
It looks like he’s truly embracing Antonio Conte’s philosophy and incredibly demanding fitness regimes, and he should reap the rewards once he’s back from injury.
Sadly, it may take some time for him to get up to speed upon his return, but after hearing this glowing review, it wouldn’t surprise us one bit if he went straight into the starting XI once he’s available for selection.
Skipp was fantastic last season, but he could well move up another gear or two this term.
Who knows? Perhaps a place at the 2022 Qatar World Cup could be on the agenda for Skipp.
