Gary Neville has raved about Ilkay Gundogan amid rumours that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal want to sign the Manchester City midfielder.
The former Manchester United defender has said on Sky Sports Premier League (1:31pm, April 30, 2023) that Gundogan, linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer transfer window, is “absolutely fantastic”.
The Sky Sports pundit believes that the 32-year-old Germany international midfielder is “brilliant”.
Gundogan is out of contract at defending Premier League champions City at the end of the season.
According to a report in Spanish publication SPORT in March, Arsenal are trying to sign the midfielder on a free transfer.
Barcelona are also reportedly keen on the £165,000-a-week (SalarySport) star as well.

Neville said about Gundogan: “He is absolutely fantastic for City.”
The pundit added: “He is a brilliant player, great character.”
HITC Verdict: Summer transfer unlikely
In our view, Arsenal are unlikely to be able to sign Ilkay Gundogan in the summer transfer window.
Now, the German could decide to simply leave City on a free transfer at the end of the season, but we do not think that he will make the switch to Arsenal.
With Barcelona interested, the German star is more likely than not to move to the La Liga club and try to be successful there.
