Andy Hinchcliffe told Soccer Special on Sky Sports on Wednesday evening that Davinson Sanchez was ‘absolutely dreadful’ for Tottenham during their 5-4 FA Cup defeat against Everton.
From an attacking point of view, it was a game to remember for Tottenham’s 24-year-old, who netted a brace as the all-Premier League affair went to extra-time.
But from a defensive standpoint, Tottenham’s backline, just like the oppositions, was all over the place.
Former Everton defender Hinchcliffe shared that he is ‘not convinced’ by Sanchez’s defending after watching him in action last night.
“Davinson Sanchez, it’s strange, he has scored twice but his defending tonight has been absolutely dreadful,” said Hinchcliffe.
“I am not convinced by him as a defender at all because so much about his game is about ball watching. We saw that with the Richarlison goal. He didn’t actually do what he should have done.
“For an experienced defender, he should have been reading the game better. He didn’t.”

Questions have been asked about the tactical book Jose Mourinho has been using since joining Spurs, but yesterday’s game was the complete opposite from what fans have been used to seeing.
It was such an open affair from both sides, but you can bet your bottom dollar that the same won’t happen in the Premier League on Saturday.
Tottenham take on leaders Manchester City and the North London outfit will be expected to return to type as they bid to secure a top-four finish.
