Some Arsenal fans are absolutely laying into Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho for comments he made in relation to Gareth Bale and one of their coaches on Friday.

The Spurs loanee is set to work with a Gunners coach when he reports for international duty with Wales next week.

Albert Stuivenberg, who is Mikel Arteta’s assistant at Arsenal, will reportedly assist Robert Page in taking charge of the national side due to Ryan Giggs’s potential absence.

And Mourinho, speaking via The Guardian, revealed that it made him uncomfortable for one of his star players to be working so closely with an employee of his side’s North London rivals, arguing that backroom staff at international level should be forbidden from working for any club.

He said: “The fact that one of their coaches is an Arsenal coach, doesn’t make me very comfortable. Honestly, it doesn’t make me very comfortable. I think national teams should have coaches that work exclusively for them, not coaches that work for other clubs.”

Here’s how fans of the Emirates Stadium outfit reacted on Twitter to the Tottenham boss’s comments:

You can sort of see where Mourinho is coming from but, by the same token, it’s irresponsible to suggest that Stuivenberg won’t be acting in Wales’s best interests during the international break.

The Dutchman might be assistant to Arteta, but surely he is professional enough to ensure Bale – who missed a month of the Lilywhites’ season through injury – will be taken care of.
