The young Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has really impressed over the last couple of years.

Darren Anderton raved about Tottenham star Harry Winks, when speaking exclusively to Love Sport Radio, labelling the 22-year-old as the ‘real deal’, and comparing him to Manchester United legend Paul Scholes.

The Spurs midfielder is obviously a real talent, but his path to regular first-team action in north London has been obscured by a wealth of world-class talent.

That could all be set to change over the next year or so, however, with Mousa Dembele’s contract due to expire in the summer, and Victor Wanyama facing an uncertain future at the club.

Winks is highly thought of in north London, and Anderton is certainly one of his biggest fans.

The 46-year-old, who made 364 appearances for Tottenham, raved about the 5ft 10in midfield ace, when speaking exclusively to Love Sport Radio:

“I think he’s the real deal, absolutely different class. I love the way he plays. I think if you watch the way he passes the ball, it’s never sloppy. It’s always fizzed in at pace, almost the way I used to watch the United boys ping the ball about, like [Paul] Scholes.”

If Winks goes on to become even half the player that Paul Scholes was, Tottenham will have one seriously good player on their hands.

The 22-year-old must be patient, however, and really impress whenever he is given an opportunity to shine.

Tonight’s game away at Barcelona will be a great chance for Winks to prove his worth, if he is selected to start the match, and with Demeble and Wanyama currently out in injured, he has a great opportunity to cement his place in the side.
