‘Absolutely convinced’: Tony Pulis makes bold Bale prediction after Tottenham return

Tony Pulis has backed Gareth Bale to score between 15-20 goals for Tottenham if he can play ‘over 30 games’ for the club this season.

The Wales international returned to Spurs last week and his fellow countryman told Sky Sports (19/09/20 at 1:25 pm) that he’s ‘absolutely convinced’ he can get towards the 20 goal mark if he stays fit.

Whilst Tottenham fans will be ecstatic that Bale is now their player once again, it’s now all about managing him properly and ensuring they eek as many games as they can out of him.

Bale scored some sublime goals for Tottenham towards the back end of his first stint at the club, including an incredible volley against Pulis’ then-Stoke side and the defensive-minded coach backed him to be a success upon his return.

“The big point here is that you have seen Arsenal sign some top players, you have seen Chelsea sign some top players,” Pulis told Sky Sports News.

“Jose needed a big signing and Bale’s a big signing. Without a question of a doubt, the supporters will be jumping for joy by getting him back.

“What has happened is that Daniel’s [Levy] has laid out the money. Jose’s taken him. What they need now is they need Gareth to play the games. If he can play over 30 games, he’ll get the between 15-20 goals. I am absolutely convinced about that.

“Would he play the 30 games? That’s the big question mark – if he does that then he’ll be a great signing for them.”

Whilst Bale has understandably stolen the headlines, a certain Sergio Reguilon, who also joined from Real Madrid, is going under the radar.

He was voted the best left-back in La Liga last season whilst being on-loan at Sevilla and he’s a player who will add some much-needed quality to Tottenham’s backline.

A big part of how Jose Mourinho works is the manner in which his teams defend and Reguilon will elevate a Spurs backline that his been stagnating for at least 18 plus months now.
