Michael Owen praised Mikel Arteta for his ‘absolutely brilliant’ actions prior to Arsenal’s third goal against Watford on Sunday, as he told Premier League Productions.
The former striker praised the Arsenal boss for scampering down the touchline, when the ball went out for a throw, and feeding the ball to Bukayo Saka as quickly as possible.
That moment of quick-thinking from Arteta resulted in Arsenal taking a quick throw, then playing some outrageous one-touch football, before Gabriel Martinelli put the ball into the back of the net.
If it wasn’t for Arteta, then that goal, which ended up being the decisive strike, may not have happened.
Either way, Owen joked whether the former midfielder is going to claim an assist for his actions at Vicarage Road.
“Brilliant, absolutely brilliant,” said Owen. “Is he going to claim an assist?
“If he didn’t scamper down the touchline, then this goal wouldn’t have happened. But it’s another wonderful goal. He (Arteta) started that off.”

Arsenal are turning into a mean machine during the crucial stages of this season.
All of this bodes well for their hopes of securing Champions League football, and in truth, it’s theirs to lose now.
This time last season, the Gunners were heading out of Europe for the first time in decades.
But, they have taken a couple of steps back, in order to regroup, charge their batteries and now head towards the right direction of the Premier League table.
