Some Tottenham Hotspur fans haven’t reacted well to photos of the players shooting hoops at the training ground on Friday afternoon, before the Manchester City showdown.
Tottenham are gearing up for a Carabao Cup final with City at Wembley on Sunday.
Victory would see Spurs end a 13-year trophy drought, having not won anything since this competition back in 2008 under Juande Ramos.
The North Londoners are already big underdogs by virtue of the fact that 29-year-old Ryan Mason – who has one game under his managerial belt – is taking charge of the clash, and even more so if injured Harry Kane doesn’t make it back.
With that in mind, you could understand why some Tottenham fans didn’t see the funny side of the likes of Dele Alli and Joe Hart playing basketball, two days before such a massive game.
Here’s what some Lilywhites supporters are saying on Twitter:
Is the criticism justified? Well, not really.
This seems like outrage for the sake of outrage. It’s unlikely that Hart and Alli chose to play basketball instead of take part in Mason’s training.
Mason, himself a Tottenham man, will know how big this game is and a pre or post-training basketball isn’t that big of a deal.
