Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced the signing of Matthew Bondswell on a free transfer.

The 18-year-old was available after he left RB Leipzig in February, having spent nearly three years with the Bundesliga outfit.

Bondswell joined the Germans from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2018, and made 23 appearances for their Under-17 side, before playing 14 games for the Under-19’s.

It goes without saying that Newcastle are getting a young talent who isn’t afraid to experience new surroundings.

Here’s hoping he bonds well with his new teammates on Tyneside…

Bondswell has also spent time with Dutch side FC Dordrecht, where he made seven appearances for their first-team.

Given his experience in numerous countries, he should have no problem settling in to life on Tyneside.

Impressively, the left-back has also represented England at various age groups.

He’s played for the Three Lions at Under-15, Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 level – he boasts plenty of experience for his age.

Bondswell joins the likes of Rodrigo Vilca and Bradley Cross in Newcastle’s academy, both of whom have recently been signed by the Magpies.
