Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react after Paul Scholes bizarrely commented on Jack Grealish’s efforts this season.
The former Manchester United maestro explained why the Villa No.10 isn’t one of his candidates for the Player of the Season.
What was his reasoning? Well, it was pretty strange.
As quoted by Optus Sport, Scholes said: “Don’t get me wrong, I love the player, but if he was doing this at Man United, Liverpool, City, one of the top clubs, then he’d be up there, he’d possibly be top three.
“There is no pressure on Villa. If he is at a top club then he needs to win every week. He needs to leave Villa to prove that (he is a top player).”
Basically, the 46-year-old doesn’t think Grealish deserves the Player of the Year award, because of the size of Aston Villa compared to bigger clubs.

Surely, what the 25-year-old is doing at Villa Park is more impressive in that respect.
You would think things would be easier for Grealish at a club like Manchester City, for example. He would have better players around him, who would help get him more assists with their clinical finishing.
You also feel he’d score more goals in a system like Pep Guardiola’s, where City dominate games and the defensive shackles on him would loosen.

Scholes’ comments really are strange.
Grealish’s case for the Player of the Season award should be strengthened because he’s not playing for a traditional ‘top six’ side, not weakened.
Just like us, some Aston Villa fans on Twitter are also baffled by the comments.
Let’s see what they’ve been saying about Scholes’ verdict…
