Tim Sherwood has criticised Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier on Sky Sports News (4:23pm, February 18, 2023) for the goal that he conceded against Sean Dyche’s Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The former Tottenham Hotspur manager believes that Leeds goalkeeper Meslier should have kept out Seamus Coleman’s effort for Everton in the second half of the game.
Everton right-back Coleman scored in the 64th minute.
The Everton captain latched on to a ball forward from Alex Iwobi.
Meslier was expecting the cross, but it went in from a really tight angle.
Now, some would say that Coleman did not mean it, but at the end of the day, it was a goal.
And that’s what counts.
Former Aston Villa manager Sherwood was following the match for Sky Sports, and he was not impressed with Meslier.

Tim Sherwood on Illan Meslier for Leeds United vs Everton
Sherwood said: “Meslier, the goalkeeper, has an absolute nightmare. He tried to anticipate.
“I don’t know why he tried to anticipate it, there’s no one in the box anyway. It just flies into the far corner.”
Disappointing
Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier will be disappointed with himself for the way he conceded the goal against Everton.
We know that the Frenchman is a very good goalkeeper, and that he has a lot of potential.
However, we think that the Leeds star should have done better, especially as fellow relegation candidates.
