According to WhoScored, Bassey showcased his defensive steel with three successful tackles on Sunday, while he also made two clearances.

The youngster also completed one key pass, embarked on one successful dribble and attempted three crosses on a busy afternoon in which he certainly didn’t let himself down.
Unfortunately for Bassey, he has Borna Barisic ahead of him in the pecking order.
The Croatian already has one goal and five assists to his name this season, which comes after he netted two goals and set up an eye-catching 14 more last term.

However, if Gerrard requires a backup, or simply a change of personnel, he has a fantastic prospect to call upon in Bassey.
