There has been a COVID outbreak at Tottenham’s Hotspur Way training ground, with as many as 20 first-team players, coaching staff and Under-23 personnel returning positive results.
On Wednesday, UEFA cancelled Spurs’ Europa Conference League clash with Rennes and now Sunday’s Premier League encounter at the Amex Stadium has also been abandoned.
Arsenal were beaten 2-0 by newly-promoted Brentford on the first day of the Premier League season, in what remains as perhaps the most surprising result of the entire campaign thus far.
However, a number of key personnel for Arsenal were ruled out of that affair due to a positive coronavirus test, with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta admitting afterwards he was shocked that it went ahead.
Sky Sports News reported that Tottenham had asked the Premier League to scrap the Seagulls clash.

Context
In Tottenham’s defence, this does seem like a much larger outbreak than anything Arsenal had to contend with back in August.
It is unclear how many of Antonio Conte’s first-team tested positive – and which players, but UEFA and Premier League saw fit to postpone both games.
As a result, this virus must have hit Tottenham’s senior squad pretty hard, whereas Arteta was only without four players – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Willian and back-up goalkeeper Alex Runarsson – for the clash against the Bees earlier this season.
