Ian Wright labelled Cedric Soares as an ‘absolute joke’ during Arsenal’s 5-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday, as he told Premier League Productions (28/08/21 at 1:30 pm).

Following Arsenal’s defeat to Chelsea last week, Mikel Arteta opted to change to a back five against Pep Guardiola’s free-scoring side.

Well, it didn’t work as the Premier League champions, as expected, walked all over the Gunners at the Etihad.

The Arsenal backline were all over the shop and it didn’t please one club legend, who was watching the game from the studio, as he labelled it a ‘disasterclass’.

“I am looking at the defence and it is a disasterclass. Between Cedric, Holding and Kolasinac. They are all over the place.

“The pressing, funnily enough at the start was really good. Other than that, the organisation was absolutely abysmal.

“Cedric is meant to be an experienced player. He just got a brilliant deal from them. A four-year deal with them.

“He has been an absolute joke in this game. What is that clearance? You look at him, Kolasinac and Xhaka being sent off. Our experienced players have really let us down in this game.”

That right-back spot has been a problem for Arsenal with Calum Chambers and Cedric being utilised in that area this season.

Many Arsenal fans, before the season started, wanted another right-sided fullback brought into the club.

But with days remaining before transfer deadline day, it seems as though the club won’t be making any moves.

Arsenal’s wages are stacked really high and it seems, unless more players leave, then nothing much is going to be done before that Tuesday deadline.
