Julian Nagelsmann does not appear to have any regrets whatsoever after reportedly turning down Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed on Twitter last month that Nagelsmann turned down approaches from Tottenham and other clubs to become the new head coach of Bayern.
Spurs have reportedly been looking at the German manager as a permanent successor to Jose Mourinho.
The 33-year-old left RB Leipzig to take charge of Bayern, and he has described his new role as a “dream job”.
Nagelsmann told Bundesliga.com: “I know that FC Bayern are aware I’m from the region.
“But I’m not going to enjoy any bonuses due to my origin. Even as a native Bavarian, I have to be successful in Munich in order to stay.
“I’m aware that I have an absolute dream job, and I’m thankful for this privilege every day. I’ll put all my energy into the job.”
Tottenham are a massive club, but so are Bayern.
Bayern are the biggest club in Germany and regularly win the Bundesliga and compete in the Champions League.
It is not hard to see why Nagelsmann turned down Spurs for Bayern.
Of course, the Premier League is a very rich domestic league and has a massive global appeal.
However, Nagelsmann could win big trophies with Bayern.
The German would also work with some of the best players at the Bavarian giants.
Nagelsmann would be working with the likes of Manuel Neuer and Robert Lewandowski at Bayern.
As for Spurs, the search goes on for a new manager.
Mauricio Pochettino, now at Paris Saint-Germain, is being strongly linked with a return to Spurs.
