Newcastle United fans were fuming on Sunday after they felt that Arsenal loanee Joe Willock had a penalty wrongly awarded against him on Sunday.

Steve Bruce’s side suffered a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United, with the home side awarded a penalty in the second half.

The on-field referee judged that Willock, who joined the Magpies from Arsenal in January, fouled Marcus Rashford in the penalty area.

Replays showed Willock going in for a challenge on Rashford, then pulling back with slight contact on the Man United forward, who then exaggerated his fall to the ground.

Either way, the Newcastle supporters felt that Willock was hard-done-by and they weren’t too pleased with Rashford’s actions.

In the end, it took the game away from Steve Bruce’s 17th-placed side, who were battling hard against the potential Premier League title contenders.

Whilst Willock started off life at St James’ Park in a bright fashion by scoring on his debut, he is now finding out the difficulty he is in because Newcastle are in a relegation battle.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of Magpies fans reacting to Willock’s challenge on Rashford yesterday.
