Fulham fans have suggested that they don’t want to see Tosin Adarabioyo join Arsenal this summer.
The Athletic say that Mikel Arteta’s side are now keen to land the central defender, who has just been relegated with the Cottagers.
Adarabioyo enjoyed a strong campaign with Fulham, despite Scott Parker’s side’s failure to stay up.
That has attracted the attentions of both Arsenal and Newcastle United.
But Fulham fans are hoping that they can hold off interest from the Premier League pair and keep Adarabioyo around for another season at the very least.
Fighting off interest from Arsenal, in particular, could be difficult for Fulham.
The appeal of the move for the 23-year-old would be obvious, given Arsenal’s stature as a club.
However, a season in the Championship may actually be better for his development in the long run.
Adarabioyo looks likely, initially at least, to play a reserve role at Arsenal, if he was to sign.
With so many central defensive options at Arteta’s disposal already, he surely wouldn’t walk straight into the Gunners’ starting line-up.
And although an immediate return to the Premier League may look eye catching, the young defender would be wise to weigh up the pros and cons of any move before committing to the transfer.
