Jamie Carragher pointed out on Sky Sports Premier League (7:38pm, March 1, 2021) that Aston Villa will be above Liverpool if they win their games in hand.
The former Liverpool defender, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, said that Villa have let themselves down by going near good positions in the Premier League and then losing games.
The Englishman noted that Villa have done so well in the league this season that if they win their two games in hand, then they will be level on 45 points with West Ham United in fourth and two points above defending English champions Liverpool.
Carragher said about Villa on Sky Sports Premier League (7:38pm, March 1, 2021): “If they win their games in hand, they will be above Liverpool. It shows how well they have done.
“But they have probably let themselves down at different times when they have been in that good position to not get those three points.”

Finishing above Liverpool
Villa have been superb this season. The turnaround from almost getting relegated at the end of the 2019-20 campaign to challenging for the Champions League places now has been astounding.
Liverpool have a better squad and have some world-class players such as Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, but the Villans have been quite consistent and have picked up points.
There have been matches where Villa should have done better – they drew with Brighton and Hove Albion and lost to Burnley in recent weeks – and even though Liverpool should still be backed to end up in the top four, Dean Smith’s side will fancy their chances of finishing above the Reds and clinching a Champions League place.
