Ryan Taylor has taken to Instagram to react after Newcastle decided to part ways with Lee Charnley, and his response was brilliant.

What’s the story?

Well, it was announced on Friday that Charnley would be leaving his role as Managing Director at Newcastle, following a handover period.

Amanda Staveley and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia have now managed to shove Steve Bruce, Mike Ashley and Charnley out of St James’ Park, which will delight the Toon Army.

All that’s left to remove is those horrid Sports Direct signs.

After hearing the news, Taylor – who made 106 appearances for Newcastle – shared a brutally honest reaction, although he had reason to do so.

You can see his response in full below.

For context, Taylor was released by Newcastle in 2015 by telephone, with John Carver shockingly asking him to pass the phone to Jonas Gutierrez so he could release him as well.

As quoted by the Guardian, he said: “John Carver rang me and told me the club weren’t going to offer me a new deal. I had a chat with him and then he asked me to pass the phone to Jonas, which was unbelievable. I can’t really blame John because he’s under instructions on what to do.”

As aforesaid, Ashley is gone, Bruce is gone, and now Charnley is gone – how good does that sound, Newcastle fans?

Once Staveley and PIF find a new Technical Director to replace Charnley, the new era can really get started.

Aside from the footballing side of things, Newcastle fans will be delighted that those cold-hearted people are gone.

In what world is it acceptable to release a player by phone, especially one who had just battled back from cancer to score the goal which kept Newcastle in the Premier League?

What makes it even worse is that Gutierrez didn’t even get his own phone call, but was merely part of a ‘two birds, one stone’ situation.

Ashley and Charnley should be ashamed of how they acted at times.

Hopefully, the new era shows a bit more compassion and warmth to the players, and makes them feel more valued that Taylor clearly did.
