Jack Wilshere has posted on his Instagram story ‘about time’ after Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe was called up by England.
There was an outcry when, last Thursday, Gareth Southgate didn’t name the in-form Arsenal man in his England squad ahead of the forthcoming international matches.
But recent injuries to certain players, including the likes of Marcus Rashford and James Ward-Prowse, has resulted in Smith Rowe now earning his maiden call that has delighted Wilshere.
He posted on his IG story, in regards to the news today, “About time. Go show them @EmileSmithRowe.”
Some would question why Smith Rowe wasn’t called by from the get-go, but, at the end of the day, he now has his chance to prove his worth and any doubters wrong.
There aren’t many English midfielders in better form than the Hale-End academy star, right now, and he proved that by scoring the winning goal at the weekend for his boyhood club.
Smith Rowe, who netted in his third straight Premier League match, helped Arsenal to a 1-0 win over Watford.
Now, he has the chance to impress those at St George’s Park and put his name up in lights for England ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
There’s no reason why the ball-carrying expert, if he can continues in his current form, shouldn’t seriously put his name forward for a World Cup spot.
There is a lot of competition in those areas, but if Arsenal and ESR continue to rise, then he will be in serious contention for a plane ticket to Qatar.
