Glasgow Rangers lost the Scottish League Cup semi-final 1-0 to Aberdeen.
Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes did not have a complimentary view of Rangers’ performance.
McInnes said he always predicted they would struggle to score and was not surprised when they appeared to run out of ideas late on.
McInnes told BBC Sport: “I always thought one goal would be enough. Rangers without two recognised two centre-forwards and we’ve been struggling for goals.
“I thought they ran out of ideas, they huffed and puffed, threw crosses in from too deep, shot from too far out. Once we got the goal, we saw the game out well and got better as it went on.”
Aberdeen scored late thanks to a goal from Lewis Ferguson.
Rangers were missed suspended striker Alfredo Morelos and cup-tied forward Kyle Lafferty.
The Gers have now failed to score for two games in a row, following a stalemate at home to Spartak Moscow in midweek.
This defeat was particularly frustrating for Rangers as they have had a good record against Aberdeen in recent seasons.
The Dons will now take on Celtic in the final after Brendan Rodgers’ side beat Hearts 3-0.
