Aberdeen picked up a huge win on Tuesday night as they thumped Hamilton Academical 4-2 at Pittodrie, with striker Ryan Edmondson playing a starring role.

Tommie Hoban headed Aberdeen in front, before Lewis Ferguson hammered home a long-range strike, with Edmondson grabbing an assist for that goal.

Edmondson then tucked home his first Aberdeen goal from close range, and added his second and Aberdeen’s fourth by driving through the Hamilton defence to score.

Hamilton tried to come back with goals from David Moyo and Ross Callachan, but it wasn’t to be as Aberdeen secured a fairly comfortable win.

The star of the show was striker Edmondson, who joined Aberdeen on loan from Leeds United in July, but injuries have delayed him from making an impact.

Now, the 19-year-old is fit and ready to thrive for Derek McInnes, at least until January, when his loan spell from Leeds is currently scheduled to end.

Aberdeen fans took to Twitter in order to praise Edmondson, believing he showed clinical finishing whilst admitting they were ‘impressed’ with him and ‘looked decent’.

Others prefer him to Sam Cosgrove, believing that Aberdeen’s main striker may struggle to win his place back from Edmondson – and Leeds fans will be excited to hear these comments about their young striker.
