Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers have failed to bring back former Gers midfielder and Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes.

Rangers wanted to appoint former Gers midfielder McInnes as the permanent successor to Pedro Caixinha.
However, the 46-year-old former midfielder decided not to swap Aberdeen for Rangers and will remain at the Pittodrie Stadium.
Following the snub, Rangers released a statement on their official website in which they seemed to suggest that McInnes did not feel that he could handle being the manager of the Gers.
Aberdeen chairman Milne has criticised the Gers for their statement, with McInnes also giving his take on what was said about him by the Glasgow giants.

The Scottish Sun quotes Milner as saying: “I don’t think the statement they came out with was befitting of a club like Rangers.
“The other thing that surprised me – when an important statement from a club like Rangers, it should have ownership.
“That should’ve been a statement from someone with power and authority at Rangers.
“It came out with nobody attached or named to that statement which I think was very disappointing.”
The Scottish Sun quotes McInnes as saying about Rangers’ statement about him: “Each to their own. I’m a very confident guy, confident in my own abilities.
“When you’ve had a couple of clubs willing to pay the compensation for me in the last few months, it shows I’m doing a good job.”

Sunderland in the Championship in England wanted to appoint McInnes as their manager in the summer of 2017, but the Scotsman turned down the chance to take charge of the Black Cats, as reported by The Guardian.
Both Rangers and Aberdeen are aiming to finish second in the Scottish Premiership this season, with Celtic looking set to win the league title yet again.
