Rangers are looking for a new manager at Ibrox after the sacking of Mark Warburton.

Rangers appear to have settled on their preferred option to replace Mark Warburton as head coach, with Portuguese coach Pedro Caixinha the clear favourite for the role.

However, the move is clearly not going off without a hitch, as the coach is still employed by Qatari club Al-Garafah.

Other names have of course been mentioned for the role, including Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes. The former Rangers player has been performing wonders at Pittodrie and has been linked with the Ibrox job.

Now the Aberdeen chairman has been discussing potential interest from Rangers. Stewart Milne was quoted by the Daily Record this week, insisting there had been no approach from Rangers for his manager. However, he did admit he would have to speak to McInnes if a move was made by their Scottish Premiership rivals:

“Obviously we would have to discuss it with Derek but we certainly wouldn’t give any encouragement for Rangers to be speaking to Derek…

“But we still have a long way to go in where we would like to take this club.

“He is Aberdeen’s manager.”

Rangers fans are currently tentative on the expected employment of the Portuguese manager, who has no prior coaching experience in the Scottish, or British game.

Many would likely prefer McInnes in the role.

If the Caixinha move continues to stall, then Rangers may have to consider McInnes as the perfect alternative.
