Rangers secured second place in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon, beating Aberdeen 2-0 at Ibrox with two penalties.

The Gers were looking for the win to guarantee second spot with three games to play, and they got just that thanks to a couple of spot kicks.

James Tavernier dispatched both penalties, with Andrew Considine sent off for the second one, with Nikola Katic winning both of them.

Rangers can now begin planning for the Europa League qualifiers this summer, and Steven Gerrard will be keen to bring in some new signings to aid his cause.

One of his targets was playing against him on Sunday, as Aberdeen substitute Greg Stewart has agreed a three-year deal with Rangers according to the Daily Record.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at Birmingham City this summer, and now looks set for a dream move to boyhood club Rangers.

Stewart only came on late in the game, but that was enough for Aberdeen fans to slate the forward, with some feeling he underperforms anyway and certainly isn’t another Jonny Hayes.

Others feel Rangers are welcome to Stewart, believing he won’t make much of an impact and may have even played more minutes at Ibrox on Sunday than he will next season…
