According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Celtic are planning on making a move for Abel Hernandez in the summer – and Bhoys fans should be excited about the impact he could make at Parkhead.

Hernandez’s contract at Hull expires at the end of the season, meaning he will be available on a free transfer.

And Brendan Rodgers is said to be keen to bring the Uruguayan to Celtic, as he looks to strengthen his attacking ranks.

Celtic may lose Moussa Dembele in the summer transfer window, as interest is mounting in the youngster.

But Bhoys fans should feel confident that Hernandez would be able to replace Dembele, if he left.

Hernandez’s record at Championship level is actually far superior to Dembele’s, and at 27 he is in the peak of his career.

Hernandez has netted 27 goals in 47 appearances in England’s second tier, and he has seven strikes to his name in just eight outings this term.

Dembele, on the other hand, had got his name on the scoresheet 15 times in his first 54 appearances in the Championship prior to his move to Celtic, yet he has still managed to score frequently in Scotland.

And there may be an argument to suggest that, at this moment in time, Hernandez would actually be a more prolific striker than Dembele for Celtic, which can only be viewed as an exciting prospect.
