Will Premier League teams take a chance on Hull City striker Abel Hernandez this summer?
Hull City’s Abel Hernandez
Eldin Jakupovic certainly deserves the chance to remain in the Premier League. The goalkeeper was excellent for Hull City in the second half of last season and, if the defence in front of him was equally reliable, The Tigers may not have been forced to swallow the bitter pill of relegation.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that a number of top flight clubs have been linked. The BBC claims that Leicester City are in advanced negotiations.
However, you could not claim that Abel Hernandez has proven himself as a Premier League quality player despite Hull’s 2016/17 season ending with them returning to the Championship once more.
In 24 appearances, the Uruguayan international scored just four goals – exactly the same tally as in his debut Premier League season in 2014/15. In between, he fired them to promotion with 21 in the second tier, suggesting he’s something of a South American Cameron Jerome.
Silly money
Therefore, with the Hull Daily Mail claiming that Hernandez is expected to leave the KCom Stadium this summer, it would be a major risk for a Premier League club to pin their hopes on him next season – especially with the publication reporting that he would cost an obscene £20 million.

Hernandez has been linked with a number of clubs in recent months, Everton in particular, per the Daily Mail. The Toffees have been tipped to move for a new forward ever since Romelu Lukaku made clear that his preference would be to fight for top honours elsewhere rather than a place in the top six at Goodison Park.
Although funds are not a problem anymore thanks to the presence of billionaire shareholder Farhad Moshiri, that does not mean Hernandez justifies Everton making him a target this summer.
Farhad Moshiri has already spent big on Davy Klaasen and Jordan Pickford
The former Palermo speedster, who has also been linked with West Brom and a reunion with former Hull boss Steve Bruce at Aston Villa, would be lucky to end up at a club of Everton’s stature and ambition.
