Leeds United are said to be in the race to sign Abel Hernandez from Hull City.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United are in the running to sign Abel Hernandez and he is the most exciting player they have been linked with so far.

Hernandez is set to be available on a free transfer this summer, with his contract at Hull City expiring.

And if Leeds were able to bring the Uruguayan to Elland Road, they could feel safe in the knowledge that they would have a striker capable of firing them to promotion.

If Leeds sign Hernandez and keep him off the treatment table, then he almost guarantees goals at Championship level.

The 27-year-old has a remarkable scoring record in England’s second tier, having netted 28 goals in 49 appearances at Championship level over the course of his career.

Hernandez scored eight goals in 10 appearances for Hull this term, and if he could bring that scoring form with him to Leeds then he would become an icon at Elland Road.

Leeds have desperately lacked a clinical finisher this term, but Hernandez could easily fill that void in their squad.

And the potential signing of Hernandez should set pulses racing around Leeds, as he could be just what Paul Heckingbottom’s side need.
