According to Sportdog in Greece, Nottingham Forest are set to make a move for Hull City striker Abel Hernandez this summer, and he could be just what they need.

Hernandez’s contract at Hull is set to expire at the end of the campaign, meaning he could become a free agent.

And there are few better potential value-for-money transfers on the table for Forest than bringing Hernandez in.

Abel Hernandez of Hull City celebrates scoring during the Sky Bet Championship match between Hull City and Queens Park Rangers at KCOM Stadium on April 7, 2018 in Hull, England.

The 27-year-old may have a questionable track record with injury, but when fit he is a prolific scorer at Championship level.

Hernandez has hit eight goals in 10 games this season for Hull, with the striker proving to be a menace in the second tier.

Over the course of his career, Hernandez now has struck 28 goals in 49 Championship appearances, and he is exactly the kind of scorer Forest have been lacking.

Abel Hernandez of Hull City looks dejected during the EFL Cup Semi-Final First Leg match between Manchester United and Hull City at Old Trafford on January 10, 2017 in Manchester, England.

The Reds have a front line which contains some promising youngsters, including Ben Brereton, but they have failed to find a potent hitman this season.

Hernandez could fill that void though, and if Aitor Karanka can bring the Uruguayan to the City Ground he would be exactly what the Reds need to push on next season.
