Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League will come as a relief to The Gunners, who scored with their only effort on target of the game at Old Trafford, and one player was particularly disappointing.

After another bafflingly lifeless showing at The Theatre of Dreams, Arsene Wenger’s men escaped Manchester with a barely deserved point.

With the Frenchman making two changes in midfield from the side that drew to rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby, Mohamed Elneny came in for Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey came in for Alex Iwobi.

Unfortunately for the Welshman, he not only failed to grasp his opportunity for a starting berth, but earned the scorn of the Gunners’ faithful for an error-strewn performance against The Red Devils.

Here are a just selection of the fans’ tweets:

So were the fans’ judgement justified or was Ramsey a mere scapegoat for a poor performance?

The stats do not paint a pretty picture for the Welshman.

Played in a wide left area where the midfielder has struggled previously, as per WhoScored, Ramsey committed the most fouls for the visiting side and recorded the worst performance of any outfield player that played the full 90 minutes.

The 25 year-old’s lack of confidence on the ball was indicative of a man who has spent a spell on the sidelines, but what raised the ire of Arsenal fans’ was the player’s apparent cavalier attitude on the ball.

Ramsey was dispossessed more than any other player at Old Trafford – at total of five times versus Jose Mourinho’s side.

Not only that, the former Cardiff City man mis-controlled on a further two occasions which frequently led the Manchester United counter-attacks.

Ramsey played the full 90 minutes as Wenger seeks to return his number eight to full match fitness. With Alex’s Iwobi and Oxlade-Chamberlain – who set up Olivier Giroud’s late leveller – the Welshman can ill afford a repeat performance.
