Aaron Ramsey has joked that he wishes Wales teammate Brennan Johnson hadn’t completed a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

New Tottenham Hotspur signing Brennan Johnson has ‘scary’ potential in the eyes of former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

Ramsey has been speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Wales taking on South Korea and Latvia over the next week.

The first international break of the season is upon us and that means Ramsey and Johnson will be joining forces.

Johnson has had a hectic few days having completed a huge £47.5million move from Nottingham Forest to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 22-year-old was presented as a Spurs player just before the deadline and will be looking to crack on at Tottenham.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ramsey doesn’t exactly like Tottenham having previously stated that he would ‘never’ play for them.

Ramsey has now reacted to the move by stating that he wishes Johnson hadn’t joined his old rivals Tottenham.

Joking aside, Ramsey noted that it’s a simply ‘brilliant’ move for Johnson and that his potential is ‘quite scary’.

Ramsey added that Johnson will be huge for Wales going forward and everybody in the Welsh camp is excited for him.

“I wish it weren’t to Tottenham! No, I think, from his point of view, it’s a brilliant move from him,” said Ramsey. “The potential that he has is quite scary and hopefully now he can take them next steps and go to the next level if you like. It’s going to be important for Wales as well, he’s going to be huge for us over the next whatever years that is. We’re all excited and hopefully, he has another platform to go on and improve himself again,” he added.

Brennan Johnson will hope to follow in Gareth Bale’s footsteps

Johnson doesn’t exactly have to think hard for some inspiration in terms of Welsh players shining for Tottenham Hotspur.

Gareth Bale became an absolute superstar with Spurs and ended up landing himself a big move to Real Madrid in 2013.

Bale’s pace made him a threat to all defences and Johnson will be hoping to do exactly the same thing.

Ben Davies is a great example too having been with Tottenham for nine years now and become part of the furniture at Spurs.

Johnson would no doubt love to make himself an immediate Tottenham hero later this month with Spurs taking on Arsenal.

A goal in that game would leave Ramsey a little gutted – and he may just offer up some tips to his former teammate and now Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.
