Newcastle United are leading the race for Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey, according to Il Bianconero.

It is being reported by the Italian news outlet that Newcastle, now under the ownership of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), are in pole position for the former Arsenal midfielder.

Aaron Ramsey would make Newcastle better

Okay, so we know Ramsey’s injury problems from his time at Arsenal.

The 30-year-old has had injury problems at Juventus as well.

We would not be surprised at all if the former Italian champions decide to sell the Wales international in the January transfer window.

Despite Ramsey’s age and his fitness issues, we think that the midfielder would be a good signing for Newcastle.

Ramsey knows the Premier League inside out and is a very dynamic midfielder who will be a goal-threat for Newcastle.

During his time in the Premier League, the Welshman scored 40 goals in 262 appearances.

Ramsey is very experienced, having starred in the Premier League, played in the Champions League and turned out in Serie A.

The Wales international could be a leader in the Newcastle midfield and play in a box-to-box role.

Rob Page is working with Ramsey at the Wales national team, and the coach was recently raving about the Juventus star.

Page told WalesOnline last week about Ramsey: “All I know is, I’ve got a great player. We’ve all seen glimpses of what he’s capable of doing in the summer.

“I thought he was outstanding. Having worked with him for the first time in an intense environment, it is a crying shame he’s not playing week-in week-out. I’d love to see him in the Premier League.

“The supporters need to be watching him to see him. Watching him in training today, he does things, it takes your breath away. We all know what he’s capable of.”
