Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has said that he advises his Gunners teammates Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe about being tempered in their emotions.
Ramsdale has said on Sky Sports that Arsenal attackers Saka and Smith Rowe were “devastated” when the Gunners failed to finish in the top four of the Premier League table last season.
The English goalkeeper has said that he speaks to Saka and Smith Rowe about keeping things in perspective.
Ramsdale has added that although Arsenal are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment, the North London club have to note that no one expected them to do so well this season.
Aaron Ramsdale on Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe
Ramsdale said: “It’s something that I try to speak to Bukayo and Emile.
“When we missed out on the top four, the pressure of the football club they felt were on their shoulders which kind of because they were the number 7 and the number 10 from the academy.
“We missed out on the top four and they were devastated. I just said, ‘Strip it back, the season before we finished eighth, you have come into the team, two of the best players, you have carried the team this season, you have come fifth, so take the positives’.”

HITC Verdict: A leader
In our view, Aaron Ramsdale’s comments about Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe show that Arsenal have a real leader in him.
Until he joined Arsenal, the goalkeeper was playing for teams who were fighting for survival in the Premier League.
As Ramsdale notes, Arsenal did not even end up in the Premier League top four last season.
And now the Gunners could win the title.
Yes, it will be a massive disappointment for Arsenal if they fail to win the title this season, but finishing second and pushing defending champions Manchester City all the way will still be a hugely successful season for the North London club.
