Aaron Ramsdale has taken to Twitter to react after the Premier League announced their nominees for the Player of the Month award.

Impressively, two Arsenal players are named on the seven-man shortlist.

What’s the story?

Well, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Ødegaard have been rewarded for their efforts in December with a place among the nominees.

The likes of Raheem Sterling, Heung-min Son, James Maddison, Mason Mount and Joao Cancelo join the Gunners duo on the shortlist.

After hearing the news, Ramsdale posted the following tweet.

Evidently, the £30m man is happy to see his teammates recognised for their hard work over the festive period.

Ødegaard earned his place on the shortlist after scoring three goals in six Premier League games last month, while also providing three assists.

In Martinelli’s case, the Brazilian scored three goals and provided two assists in six Premier League outings.

Bukayo Saka should feel hard done by

While he’ll surely be delighted for Ødegaard and Martinelli, we can’t help but feel Bukayo Saka will feel disappointed at his exclusion from the shortlist.

The 20-year-old scored three goals and provided two assists in six Premier League games, the same amount of goal involvements as Martinelli.

We’re not too sure if the Premier League have ever placed three players from one club on the Player of the Month shortlist, in fairness.

Hopefully, Saka can use this as motivation to earn a place among the nominees for January’s Player of the Month award.

Whatever happens, it must be hugely encouraging for Mikel Arteta to see two players from his side on the shortlist.
